  28. PROBLEM:                                                                        
  29. SYS1200 error when attempting to Dual Boot to DOS with an error                 
  30. code indicating that the DOS environment cannot be created and                  
  31. you see an error code - EC=00BF.                                                
  32. RESOLUTION:                                                                     
  33. Ensure that you have not removed or remarked out any of the                     
  34. VIRTUAL DOS device drivers.  If all else fails, rename your                     
  35. current CONFIG.SYS to CONFIG.XXX and copy your original CONFIG.                 
  36. SYS to the root directory. The original CONFIG.SYS can be found                 
  37. in the  OS2 INSTALL directory.

  40. PROBLEM:                                                                        
  41. Installation on ZEOS notebook fails                                             
  42. RESOLUTION:                                                                     
  43. Follow the following steps:                                                     
  44.                                                                                 
  45. The fix for this problem assumes that you have access to a                      
  46. working copy of OS/2 2.0. Ask your local IBM dealer if they can                 
  47. provide an OS/2 2.0 machine for you to use for a few minutes, or                
  48. ask a friend/co-worker with 2.0 installed. Bring your Instal-                   
  49. lation diskette with you, along with a blank formatted high                     
  50. density 3.5 inch diskette.                                                      
  51.                                                                                 
  52. Step 1.  Open the OS/2 System object on the OS/2 Desktop by                     
  53.          double clicking with mouse button 1 (usually the left                  
  54.          mouse button)                                                          
  55.                                                                                 
  56. Step 2.  Open the Command Prompts folder (by double clicking on                 
  57.          the folder object).                                                    
  58.                                                                                 
  59. Step 3.  Double click on the OS/2 Window Object.                                
  60.                                                                                 
  61. Step 4.  You should now be at an OS/2 Command Prompt.                           
  62.                                                                                 
  63. Step 5.  Backup your Installation Diskette to the blank 3.5 inch                
  64.          high density diskette you brought with you.  Enter the                 
  65.          following command at the pronpt: DISKCOPY A: A:<enter>                 
  66.          and follow the prompts.                                                
  67.                                                                                 
  68. Step 6.  With your backup diskette in the drive, enter the fol-                 
  69.          lowing: PATCH SYSINSTX.COM<enter>                                      
  70.                                                                                 
  71. Step 7.  When asked for the offset address, enter: 96AF<enter>                  
  72.                                                                                 
  73. Step 8.  On the line that is shown, enter 45 to replace 44 as                   
  74.          the first byte in the line and then press <enter>.                     
  75.                                                                                 
  76. Step 9.  When asked if you wish to apply patches, answer: Y                     
  77.          <enter>.                                                               
  78.                                                                                 
  79. Step 10. At the OS/2 Command prompt again, enter: SYSINSTX A:                   
  80.                                                                                 
  81. Step 11. Install OS/2 on your ZEOS using the patched backup                     
  82.          Installation Diskette.                                                 
  83.                                                                                 
  84. Step 12. The patch MUST be applied using OS/2. If it is not                     
  85.          available, a diskette with the patch applied can be                    
  86.          sent to you from IBM.

  91. PROBLEM:                                                                        
  92. Fails to reboot after pressing enter.                                           
  93.                                                                                 
  94. Install requests the user to press enter to reboot at the end of                
  95. the full screen portion of install, or at the end in the case of                
  96. a remote install.  In some cases this will cause the system to                  
  97. hang.  This is a problem in the file system shutdown.                           
  98.                                                                                 
  99. WORKAROUND:                                                                     
  100. If the machine does not reboot, try Ctl-Alt-Del, and if                         
  101. this fails power off/on the machine.  This should not                           
  102. cause the user any problems, but running a checkdisk                            
  103. after the install completes 'just in case' wouldn't be
